SEAL IN THE SAVINGS WITH HOME INSULATION.

Of all the efficiency improvements you can make to your home, insulation offers the biggest bang for your buck. Insulation can help you save up to 20 percent on heating and cooling costs, and it can make your home more comfortable year-round.

Adding insulation has many benefits, including:

  • Lower utility bills
  • Reduced heat loss
  • Superior humidity control
  • Enhanced comfort, especially in summer and winter months
  • Protection from dust, pollen and insects
  • Reduced exposure to outside noises

Choose the right insulation for the job:

Rolls and batts
These flexible insulation products are constructed from mineral fibers including fiberglass and rock wool. Rolls and batts are perfectly suited for wall and attic insulation.
Loose-fill insulation
Loose fill is designed to go where other types of insulation can’t. Irregular and hard-to-access spaces are great candidates for this material, which is made of loose fiberglass, rock wool and/or cellulose. Typically a pneumatic device is used for this blow-in insulation.
Rigid foam insulation
Though it is more expensive than other options, rigid foam offers greater insulating power than its counterparts. Rigid foam is perfect for exterior wall sheathing, basement wall sheathing and attic hatches.

TIP

R-value is one of the most important considerations when choosing insulation. It is the measure of insulation’s ability to resist heat flow. The higher the R-value, the better the thermal performance. Most attics should insulate to R-38 or about 10-14 inches, depending on insulation type.
