The Shine a Light Project:
Providing Oklahomans in need with a ray of hope.

At PSO, we see ourselves as more than just a utility company. And we view our community as more than just our customers. That's why we're always seeking out ways to make a difference in our neighbors' lives, and enlighten the community about ways they can help too.

For example, did you know that over 40% of the people served at food pantries said they have to choose between paying their bills and feeding their families? As active members of our community, PSO wants to make a difference. That's why we created the Shine a Light Project – to provide Oklahoma families in need with a ray of hope.

During 2014, the Shine a Light Project partnered with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma to help families in need lighten their financial load. Here's how it worked: for every PSO-discounted, energy-efficient bulb you purchased from a participating retailer, we donated one to our food bank partners to help families save money on their utility bills – money they could use to help feed their families.

When the Shine a Light Project is in effect, all you have to do is visit one of our participating retailers and look for the "Savings that Shine" sticker.* What may seem like a small purchase to you can make a big difference to your neighbors in need.   When the Shine a Light Project is not in effect, you can still get in-store PSO discounts at the register on select ENERGY STAR qualified CFLs and LEDs.

The Shine a Light Project has reached its 75,000 bulb donation goal, and food bank clients are beginning to receive the bulbs you so graciously helped provide.  We appreciate your support and donation.  Check back in the spring of 2015 for details on our next outreach.

*PSO donated one bulb for every bulb you purchased, up to 75,000 bulbs, at a total value of $121,500.
